The ultimate in romance, Kevin proposed to Kelsey in the midst of a huge candlelit heart on a sandy beach. We were thrilled when Kelsey invited us to help her plan her unique wedding in gorgeous plums and moss greens. Estancia La Jolla was the perfect venue to create their magical evening.  The couple was married under a beautiful hydrangea-drenched grapevine canopy in the Estancia garden. As we partnered with Jan, mother of the bride, every detail was designed and completed. From glowing balls of woven lights to a ceiling draped in creamy soft fabric, each element added to the natural ambience.  We knew the guests would arrive thirsty on this warm summer day, so we created a festive purple drink, decorated with a candied purple fruit slice and playful straw. Leaf name cards and table numbers enriched the woodsy, yet elegant theme.  The perfect, refreshing touch to a lovely summer wedding, Pink Berry Frozen Yogurt was the couple’s dessert choice for their guests, with a small, marzipan-leafed cake for the traditional cake cutting ceremony.  Creative photography by Candice of Mark Brooke Photography.

Love at Last

Monday, June 21st, 2010

Lisa and Kent’s wedding was held at the gorgeous La Jolla Scripps Forum. It was the perfect back drop for their special day. We added pops of color with hanging pom poms to create a festive atmosphere. Lisa, an amazing graphic artist, created their motif to play off the infinity sign which symbolizes their everlasting love. Lisa and Kent were the ultimate relaxed bride and groom, always enjoying the moment! The beautiful celebration was captured by the talented and adorable Sean Walker.

Hot and Spicy

When Chris and Marci met at camp many years ago, they had no idea that their friendship would later turn into love. But, when Chris moved from Utah to Long Beach to be with Marci, they knew that they were going to be together forever! And so began the planning for their January wedding at the ever-so-charming Darlington House in La Jolla. To compliment the look and feel of the venue, they chose slate grey, cobalt blue and a touch of cherry red to complete their look. Authentic Flavors stuck with the couple’s favorites and created a fabulous Mexican buffet to go with their custom hot sauce favors. Even on a cool night, the guests danced the night away under the stars. Thank  you Sarah Shreves for sharing these wonderful pictures with us.

Cynthia and Evan

Some families are just so wonderful to work with and this is one of those families! This gorgeous ceremony and reception were held at the amazing Grand Del Mar . Guests had the best time dancing the night away with Wayne Foster himself. Jennifer Cole did an outstanding job on the florals and was also a guest where she and her husband could let loose.  The wedding cake was designed around the bridesmaids shoes. Each shoe had a similar blossom on the toe area which was then created onto the cake.  Tim Otto did an amazing job and is always entertaining to work with.

“it’s all in the pretty pink details”

Tuesday, May 11th, 2010

When we first met Jessica and Sean, they were searching for their dream venue. The luxurious Rancho Valencia Resort and the fabulous Lauren Finley were the perfect match. Their wedding was all about the little details…beginning with the tray passed pink lemonade, parasols and fans, ruffley pink petals to toss and the pink rock candy stirrers which symbolized Sean’s old rock star status. The guests danced and sang along to the Beatles tunes performed by a live band who had some pretty elaborate costume changes and Beatle reenactments. The delicious organic treats from Viva Pops made of strawberry and pear vanilla were a late night hit. Along with the super cool guitar cake. The stunning photography was captured by the lovely and talented Natalie Moser

Purple and more purple

Monday, May 10th, 2010

Guess what Maggie’s favorite color is…purple! It certainly suited her to select purple as the main color for her Scottish wedding. Maggie took a trip with her family to Scottland and since her family roots are from there, she wanted to add a Scottish twist into the wedding day. She accomplished this by having the officiant (who was her father) wearing a kilt, as well as, the ring bearers. On her bouquet she attached a pendant that she bought while on her trip. The venue she chose was the church where her dad is the pastor and she grew up in. Isn’t this the cutest flower girl you’ve ever seen! I think so! (she’s my niece) She did such a great job pulling little Caydence down the aisle. Maggie and Brian love candy, so it was a necessity to have a candy station made up of their favorite candy. To finish the day, Maggie and Brian brought back the old tradition of allowing their guests to throw bird seed at them. I wonder how many days they were finding bird seed in their hair.  Tim Otto, the super star, captured all the photos.

Trisha and Michael

Saturday, March 20th, 2010

El Nino showed it’s face on Trisha and Michael’s wedding day, but they weren’t going to let that spoil their special day. They enjoyed every moment with great anticipation and joy! The ceremony was moved inside at Estancia La Jolla, which made for an intimate affair with hanging candles and warm shawls. The reception was a hit with dancing all night long! We added some comfortable furniture just in case any guests needed a little break. Trisha and Michael didn’t want a traditional wedding cake, so they opted for cupcakes, yet they had a smaller cake to cut. We created a menu that went along with each cupcake to indicate what flavor it was. Pretty fun! Dean Barker with Paul Barnett captured the lovely photos. It truly was a gorgeous wedding for this wonderful couple! Watch their memories unfold by Modern 8 Films.

Elena and Oliver

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

We don’t have many rainy days in San Diego, but this year…we do! We moved this quaint little ceremony inside. Guests were comfortable as they watched the couple marry in front of a romantic fireplace drenched with candles enhancing the feeling of romance. Elena and Oliver were married at Estancia La Jolla and threw a lovely seven course, wine pairing meal for all their guests to enjoy. Delicious! Aquario Studios captured the memories.

Jenny + Tom

Friday, January 8th, 2010

Jenny flew in from Washington D.C. to meet with us (the EAE divas) on a clear, warm, sunny day. You know, one of those days that makes San Diego an attractive vacation destination. Jenny shared her vision and dreams with us and asked if we would help her plan one of the most important days of her life. Months later, her wedding day unfolded into a seamless day, full of beauty, precious moments, fun and laughter. Jenny chose the rich elegance of La Jolla Presbyterian Church for the ceremony, with its dark, wooden pews and breathtaking stained glass windows. Purple was a must at the wedding, as it is Jenny’s favorite color. Loads of purple hydrangea were stuffed in buckets that hung from the entrance doors, welcoming guests as they arrived. All rejoiced as Jenny promenaded down the aisle on the arm of her father, both of them glowing with joy. (Tom looked quite pleased himself!) The Museum of Contemporary Art  was the perfect spot for the reception, with its hip, contemporary feel. The museum has grey cement flooring…a little cold and not great with purple. So, with the help of  Kathy Wright, we added a cappuccino color in the decor to soften the ambiance of the room. We used rectangular and square tables to create a clean, modern feel. The tables were adorned with roses, orchids, monkey’s tail and some silver balls. (really cool!) The museum glowed with candles, up lights and happy faces. The kids were thrilled with their “kids” table full of activities just for them, including a mysterious ‘I Spy’ card and custom pencil. The food, created by Waters Fine Catering was superb. Each course was elegantly designed and paired with a lovely wine to compliment the sophistication of the food. As always, the Wayne Foster  band were super stars, creating pure entertainment all evening long! The guests were dancing their hearts our, as you can see! What a phenomenal day all captured by Jennifer Dery!
