Purple and more purple

Monday, May 10th, 2010

Guess what Maggie’s favorite color is…purple! It certainly suited her to select purple as the main color for her Scottish wedding. Maggie took a trip with her family to Scottland and since her family roots are from there, she wanted to add a Scottish twist into the wedding day. She accomplished this by having the officiant (who was her father) wearing a kilt, as well as, the ring bearers. On her bouquet she attached a pendant that she bought while on her trip. The venue she chose was the church where her dad is the pastor and she grew up in. Isn’t this the cutest flower girl you’ve ever seen! I think so! (she’s my niece) She did such a great job pulling little Caydence down the aisle. Maggie and Brian love candy, so it was a necessity to have a candy station made up of their favorite candy. To finish the day, Maggie and Brian brought back the old tradition of allowing their guests to throw bird seed at them. I wonder how many days they were finding bird seed in their hair.  Tim Otto, the super star, captured all the photos.

Elena and Oliver

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

We don’t have many rainy days in San Diego, but this year…we do! We moved this quaint little ceremony inside. Guests were comfortable as they watched the couple marry in front of a romantic fireplace drenched with candles enhancing the feeling of romance. Elena and Oliver were married at Estancia La Jolla and threw a lovely seven course, wine pairing meal for all their guests to enjoy. Delicious! Aquario Studios captured the memories.

Jenny + Tom

Friday, January 8th, 2010

Jenny flew in from Washington D.C. to meet with us (the EAE divas) on a clear, warm, sunny day. You know, one of those days that makes San Diego an attractive vacation destination. Jenny shared her vision and dreams with us and asked if we would help her plan one of the most important days of her life. Months later, her wedding day unfolded into a seamless day, full of beauty, precious moments, fun and laughter. Jenny chose the rich elegance of La Jolla Presbyterian Church for the ceremony, with its dark, wooden pews and breathtaking stained glass windows. Purple was a must at the wedding, as it is Jenny’s favorite color. Loads of purple hydrangea were stuffed in buckets that hung from the entrance doors, welcoming guests as they arrived. All rejoiced as Jenny promenaded down the aisle on the arm of her father, both of them glowing with joy. (Tom looked quite pleased himself!) The Museum of Contemporary Art  was the perfect spot for the reception, with its hip, contemporary feel. The museum has grey cement flooring…a little cold and not great with purple. So, with the help of  Kathy Wright, we added a cappuccino color in the decor to soften the ambiance of the room. We used rectangular and square tables to create a clean, modern feel. The tables were adorned with roses, orchids, monkey’s tail and some silver balls. (really cool!) The museum glowed with candles, up lights and happy faces. The kids were thrilled with their “kids” table full of activities just for them, including a mysterious ‘I Spy’ card and custom pencil. The food, created by Waters Fine Catering was superb. Each course was elegantly designed and paired with a lovely wine to compliment the sophistication of the food. As always, the Wayne Foster  band were super stars, creating pure entertainment all evening long! The guests were dancing their hearts our, as you can see! What a phenomenal day all captured by Jennifer Dery!

Magical Event in Malibu

Friday, January 8th, 2010

A few years ago we had the privilege of working with Katie’s family when her sister, Kimberly, got married. Now it was Katie’s turn! What we loved most about Katie was her abundant energy and pure joy about getting married to Conor. We have met a lot of happy brides over the years, but truly have never met anyone as giddy as Katie. Her excitement was contagious! The wedding took place high up in the hills of Malibu with a breathtaking view of the ocean, at the Rancho Sol Del Pacifico Estate. The reception was held on the tennis court, which was covered by a clear tent so the guests could see the stars and the full moon. Eggplant lamour linens were topped with Ottoman Plum table runners and lined with bronzed bowls, apothecary jars and iron candelabras. Jennifer Cole created an eclectic look with a vibrant mix of fall colored flowers, succulents, candles and moss. Wrought iron chandeliers hung from the tent and were draped with purple orchids and jewels. Paul Bott delighted the guests with a unique tapas menu and a variety of tray passed desserts. The party was jump started by the talented DJ Casey Connor. She was amazing! The All-Star team was complete with one of So Cals best photographers, the brillant  Jose Villa. To end the night, guests loaded paper bags with chips, granola bars and cookies for the bus ride back to the hotel. It was a huge hit! Thank you Katie and Conor for letting us be a part of your special day!
